2021 Michael Malat Crazy Creatures Grüner Veltliner

Michael Malat comes from a winemaking family with roots in Kremstal all the way back to 1722. This easy-to-love Gruner is what you might call a "Somm wine" with its zippy, food-ready acidity. Green apples, with lemon zest and a hint of baking spice.

The flagship grape of Austria, Grüner Veltliner is a natural cross of Traminer and St. Georgen.  Grüner accounts for almost 30% of all grapes planted with around 13,500 hectares under vine in the country.
